Regional Championship

The 2009–2010 Pokémon TCG Regional Championships divide the U.S. and Canada into large regions, giving players the opportunity to earn scholarships up to $1500 and even a Travel Award to their respective National Championships! Held in cities across the U.S. and Canada, each Regional Championship is part of a title event series where players in each of the three POP-recognized age divisions (Junior, Senior, and Masters) compete for the title of Regional Champion! Results of the Regional Championships can give a serious boost to a player’s Premier Ratings and chances of getting into the 2010 World Championships in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

Special offer: If you turn in your deck list Friday night between 6:30-10:00pm the first 150 players receive an additional regional die of a different color. Anybody after that will receive an additional raffle ticket.

1^st Place: 36 Boosters, trophy, $1500 scholarship, trip to Nationals (US), playmat and cap

2^nd Place: 36 boosters, trophy, $1000 scholarship

3^rd and 4^th Place: 36 boosters, trophy

5^th through 8^th Place: 18 boosters
9^th through 16^th Place: 9 boosters

Tired of all those extra Pokemon cards laying around? Turn them into cash!

Troll and Toad will be at regionals buying cards from Base Set up. That's right bring any Pokemon card from any set of any rarity. They will be buying commons, uncommons, rares, reverse foils, promos and basic energy while paying you top dollar for them. They will have a buy list on hand for EX, Level X and Primes and other ultra rares. They will be there Friday night and all day Saturday.

Regionals over the years has become a large event. In order to help hotels plan for this event with needed supplies, this year please come to the computer desk to pick up a coupon paper. Any time you purchase anything at the hotel please show this so they can track what people are buying so next year they will make sure the popular items are there. You will also need this to get the lunch deal. If you get receipt for everything you buy Saturday and write full name on it, turn it into the computer desk to be entered into a special raffle.

In addition, future releases will become legal as they are released.

You may use any older version of a card if it was reprinted in a current set if the card hasn’t changed significantly without a translation. Example Mysterious Fossil’s older version had 10 hit points and the new version has 50, the older version may no longer be played without the card dex page or an outside translation.

Tournament Structure

Players will be separated into three age divisions

Junior born 2000 or later
Senior born 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999
Masters born 1995 or earlier

All rounds will be played Swiss style with the modified deck that you brought. In the Swiss format, players are expected to keep playing each round, regardless if you win or lose. Players will have 40 minutes to complete each round, with each player putting out 6 Prize cards. Players who win a game receive one point; a player who loses a game receives zero points. If a tie occurs between prizes when time is called, you play until next prize is drawn. The numbers of rounds in the event depends on the attendance.

At most events there are top cuts, these matches are played best 2 out of 3 with a minimum of 1 hour time limit.

What to Bring and Know

Your Pokémon Organized Play POP ID. If you don’t have a POP ID, one will be given to you at the event. You must activate this online at www.go-pokemon.com/op.
A die and some damage counters (if possible).
A writing utensil for deck registration and match slips (if possible).
Extra money if you are interested in eating lunch (not provided).
To participate in the event, you must be a player in good standing and abide by the Floor Rules.

Disney Quest is offering a group discount on Sunday, April 18th if more than 10 people want to go there. They offered a 5 dollar discount per person, the price would be ages 3-9 $31.69, ages 10 and up $37.12 tax included.
